  • How to Use the Website
I drew inspiration for this section of the website from my own mother. As she struggled to cope with my sister's upcoming transition to college, I struggled to keep up finding answers to her many questions and concerns about how my sister, who has Asperger's, would manage in college. What you see in this section is the product of that work. [For an update on how my mother's feeling now that my sister is actually in college, read her self-written article here.] I realize that I am not a parent or guardian myself, but rest assured, the advice given in these articles is mother-approved. Here you can read advice about your changing role as a parent, common concerns, advice about preparing your child for college, and more.

In addition, if you're interested in learning more, I've adapted and expanded the sections of this website explaining autism into a website of their own - Autism Spectrum Explained. As a family member, having grown up with my sister my entire life, I thought I understood autism and how it affected my sister. It turns out, I didn't. Everything I learned in my research, I poured into this website, so if you are interested in getting the perspective of autism from someone with autism (my sister was incredibly influential in the making of the website), after you're done reading about autism and college, check it out!
